I’m proud and grateful to be the endorsed candidate for Mayor of Oshawa by the Durham Region Labour Council, representing 55,000 union members across this region.
Workers didn’t just build this City, they have had influence on the movement for labour rights across this country and beyond.
Autoworkers, health care workers, teachers, public sector employees, clerical workers, food industry workers, construction and trades workers, and many more – even workers who don’t have the protection and support of a unionized workplace: they step in and fight for the rights of the many and the rights of minorities against those who are trying to take away power from people. And we need their fight especially now. Solidarity shouldn’t be an unknown or scary word in our vocabularies.
I don’t take this endorsement lightly: when elected, it means listening and learning, accountability, and a shared fight for an Oshawa that can be fairer, more inclusive, and built for the many, not the powerful few. That’s why I’m in this.
